Copyright 2026 Pikoroo.

Original Pikoroo runtime controller and tests: all rights reserved. Build and
packaging scripts have the corresponding-source permission described below.

Third-party source patches and components retain their original licences,
authors and copyright notices. Wine and published CodeWeavers Wine hooks are
covered by their applicable GNU LGPL terms, included in build/licenses.
DXMT's MIT notice at the pinned source version is in build/licenses/dxmt-LICENSE.
MSync is built from the published CrossOver 26.3 Wine sources, not its binaries.
The LGPL-2.1-or-later source and authorship notices are preserved in
build/patches/0009-wine-11-msync.patch, with the source digest and integration
version in build/source-lock.json. Both Wine cores must be rebuilt together.
Apple D3DMetal renderer rights are separate. Public payload preparation excludes
Apple's files and supports a separate, explicit import of Apple's original
download under its terms. This file does not replace any third-party licence.

Unsigned runtime packaging (2026-10-22)

scripts/prepare-public-runtime.py prepares an Apple-free runtime-only payload,
an exact file inventory and a matching corresponding-source archive. Its media
selection excludes unused Rust/GTK, DVD and GPL encoder components; dependency
closure is checked before packaging. GMP, Nettle, GnuTLS and SDL2 are rebuilt
with build/build-public-dependencies.py and recorded commands. Source archives,
patches, transitive renderer notices and replacement instructions accompany the
package. See build/PUBLIC-RUNTIME.txt. These engineering checks are not a grant
of third-party patent or proprietary renderer rights.

Pikoroo's restrictions do not limit recipients' rights under the licences of
the included open-source components, including modification, replacement and
reverse engineering for debugging such modifications. Original Pikoroo build
and packaging scripts supplied with corresponding source may be used, copied,
modified and redistributed for rebuilding and distributing those components.
This permission does not relicense the Pikoroo application/runtime controller.

HISTORICAL PRIVATE-PAYLOAD CHECKLIST (2026-10-18; not legal clearance)

The installed private payload includes Wine 11.0, modified published Wine
hooks, DXMT 0.80, DXVK 1.10.3-macOS, MoltenVK 1.4.2, D3DMetal 3.0 and a
GStreamer dependency SDK. build/source-lock.json pins selected inputs;
build/dependency-provenance.json records known dependency gaps. Neither a
critical-file manifest nor that provenance record is a complete release SBOM.

Before shipping a bundled runtime:

1. Obtain the applicable D3DMetal 3.0 evaluation-environment terms and a
documented grant covering commercial redistribution inside a general game
launcher, delivery/updates, territories and support. No such grant is on
file. The framework's Resources/LICENSE is an xxHash notice, not an Apple
renderer licence. Apple's toolkit web page and open-source sample licence
are not substitutes for the binary terms. Ask Apple Developer Support and
   CodeWeavers whether an appropriate licensing/porting agreement is available;
require explicit third-party sublicensing rights, not just a CrossOver seat.
   https://developer.apple.com/games/game-porting-toolkit/
   https://developer.apple.com/contact/
   https://www.codeweavers.com/portjump

2. Keep published CodeWeavers FOSS hooks separate from proprietary binaries.
CrossOver's EULA section 3 restricts redistribution except as permitted by
applicable law or FOSS licences; buying CrossOver is not OEM clearance.
   https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover/eula
   https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover/source

3. Produce an exact shipped-file/component/license SBOM and corresponding
source delivery for LGPL/GPL components, including local patches, configure
flags, build/relocation scripts and the materials required by the chosen
licences to modify and replace/relink the libraries. Preserve all notices
and applicable reverse-engineering rights. Test the replacement process
with the final signing model. Upstream URLs alone are not a source archive.
Choose the applicable GMP/Nettle dual-licence options explicitly. Include
MIT/zlib/Apache/BSD notices and applicable NOTICE files for transitive code,
not only Wine, DXMT, DXVK and MoltenVK. Have counsel review the final bundle.
   https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1.html

4. Replace the broad dependency SDK with a reviewed runtime-only dependency
closure, or satisfy all its obligations. The installed package contains
x264/x265, a52dec, libdca, DVD and frei0r components: do not label the entire
bundle LGPL-only. Review GPL combinations and codec/patent licensing for
intended markets. Do not blindly delete libraries: rebuild and retest media
playback against the reduced closure before shipping.
   https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/frequently-asked-questions/licensing.html

5. Resolve the exact SDK EULA/REDIST terms for the hash-pinned Microsoft
   d3dcompiler_47.dll downloaded by ManagedDependency.shaderCompiler, including
use/distribution in a Wine prefix on macOS and required user consent.
Microsoft's general app-local guidance does not establish those specific
rights. Direct downloading, rather than bundling, is not legal clearance.
Do not use EWDK terms as a substitute for this Windows SDK artifact's terms.
   https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/directx-sdk--august-2009-

6. Resolve Pikoroo's own public licence/terms and third-party notices, then
Developer ID signing, notarization, update integrity and clean-Mac testing.
Signing/notarization do not confer redistribution rights. Test games,
prefixes, saves, credentials and proprietary CrossOver activation data must
   never become release inputs.

Packaging rejects historical payloads unless explicitly marked private. The
new Apple-free packaging path requires its complete inventory and matching
source archive; paid signing is not required by the unsigned manual installer.
The private flag never grants rights. A launcher-only build
using the user's separately installed/licensed engine avoids rebundling that
engine, but still needs its own release/legal review and is not standalone DX12.

DLSS Super Resolution through DXMT / MetalFX (private development)

The DXMT 0.80 NVAPI shim is obtained from the MIT-licensed upstream release.
The NGX shim is built from published DXMT 0.80 source with these upstream
corrections, published under LGPL-2.1-or-later:
  50102f994b406f58f56d5d09f2ad20f9b90390a2: resource-parameter conversions
  542ca170c7cfdd91630b513a28a96f95fa333258: default pre-exposure of 1.0
  59eb4c1ad82df75fdf89fb05bc45acaed3767323: NGX result constants
The DXMT 0.80 renderer is unchanged. The NGX notice and full license are in
build/licenses/dxmt-ngx-COPYING. scripts/add-metalfx-provider.py packages the
patched source, build recipe, integrity pins and license in
metalfx/ngx-source.tar.gz alongside the binary. This D3D11 temporal-upscaling
bridge does not implement frame generation or ray reconstruction.

The bridge uses published source and public DXMT artifacts; it does not copy
CrossOver's proprietary NGX implementation. This does not clear distribution
of the rest of the private runtime, especially Apple D3DMetal or dependency
SDK components. Existing restrictions above remain applicable.
